About the role
Lead the plan, design, and development activities to create the user experience for devices, tools, and systems. Establish interactive conventions, gather user requirements, mock up user experiences, and participate in trade-off discussions with development teams and subject matter experts. Apply visualization and screen design expertise to ensure a successful user experience in an agile development environment, delivering feedback weekly. Conduct user experience research and optimization, create final visual designs, storyboards, interaction flows, and interface guidelines, and take a user-centered approach to meet both user needs and product strategy requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in gathering and analyzing user requirements
- Create screen mock-ups and help customers imagine new interactive techniques and technologies
- Participate in trade-off discussions with development teams and subject matter experts
- Deliver user experience feedback on a weekly basis in an agile environment
- Conduct user experience research and optimization
- Create final visual designs, storyboards, interaction flows, and interface guidelines
- Work with product owners to rapidly prototype and iterate on multiple design solutions
- Review final implementation with front-end developers to ensure design standards are followed
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across various customer bases to provide inspiration and constructive feedback
- Lead project life cycle design, including interviewing customers, articulating requirements, creating visual designs/prototypes, and presenting information
- Manage diverse engineering teams in conducting user experience research and optimization
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university (or four years of additional user experience design experience on similar projects in lieu of a degree)
- Ten years of experience in user experience design
- Five years of experience within the last 10 years leading project life cycle design
- Three years of experience with screen mock-up tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Visio, Axure) and related industry tools for creating visual displays and prototypes
- Active TS/SCI clearance with an appropriate current polygraph (required to be considered for this role)
- Ability to receive privileged access rights
