About the role
You're an experienced technician with a thorough diagnostic eye -- you can walk through a used vehicle and know exactly what it needs
You take the safety inspection process seriously -- your recommendations protect both the guest and the store's reputation
You're looking for a focused, consistent flat-rate role at a luxury dealership without the chaos of a full-line service bay
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive safety inspections on pre-owned vehicles -- evaluating brakes, tires, suspension, steering, lighting, fluid levels, belts, hoses, and all major vehicle systems
- Document inspection findings accurately and thoroughly -- preparing detailed reconditioning recommendations that support management decisions on each vehicle
- Identify safety concerns and mechanical issues that must be addressed before a vehicle is cleared for sale
- Complete approved reconditioning repairs -- addressing mechanical, safety, and operational items to bring vehicles to dealership and Lexus CPO standards where applicable
- Perform road tests to evaluate vehicle performance and confirm the accuracy of inspection findings
- Cook up with the used vehicle manager and service management on reconditioning priorities and timelines
- Maintain accurate repair order documentation for all inspection and reconditioning work performed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation throughout every shift
Requirements
- 3+ years of automotive technician experience in a franchised dealership -- multi-brand or import experience a strong plus
- Strong inspection background -- able to evaluate a vehicle thoroughly and accurately across all major systems
- ASE certifications preferred -- multi-system certifications reflect the diagnostic breadth this role requires
- California SMOG license preferred -- not required
- Comfortable working across multiple vehicle makes and model years -- used vehicle reconditioning is rarely brand-specific
- Detail-oriented and thorough -- your inspection reports directly influence what vehicles go to market and what doesn't
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Qualifications
- Quality-first mindset -- you don't clear a vehicle you wouldn't feel confident selling to your own family
Skills
- Comprehensive safety inspection skills
- Thorough diagnostic abilities
- Effective communication and coordination skills
Benefits
- $35.50 - $40/hr flat rate
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Life insurance and supplemental coverage options
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Career growth within the Swickard organization -- strong technicians grow into senior tech, shop foreman, and service management roles
- Employee vehicle purchase and service discounts

$35.50 - $40/hr flat rate
