Used Equipment Specialist
Job Description
This person supports the Used Equipment Department by managing used equipment inventory, coordinating workflow with the Used Equipment Shop, and assisting company field sales representatives with used equipment needs. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Skills & Responsibilities
- Oversee used equipment inventory levels and maintain accuracy across all systems.
- Acquire used equipment that meets required capacities, power needs, and specifications.
- Maintain and update inventory lists with pricing, specifications, and equipment condition for the sales team.
- Determine which equipment should be listed for sale, wholesaled, or scrapped.
- Collaborate with the Used Production Manager to track equipment moving through the reconditioning shop.
- Cook up used equipment orders throughout the production process.
- Monitor work-in-process (WIP) and maintain up-to-date order status reports.
- Sources and coordinates the purchase of batteries, chargers, and other major components for reconditioned units.
- Supports multiple divisions by assisting with used equipment orders and overseeing progress through the production schedule.
- Assists with equipment pricing and valuation tasks.
- Occasionally participates in customer visits to support used equipment sales.
Work Experience Requirements
- Sales or customer-facing experience preferred; must be comfortable representing the Used Equipment Department with customers and vendors.
- Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
- 5+ years industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Industrial battery knowledge or experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required.
Education / Certifications / License Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred or equivalent industry experience.
- Must have a current, unrestricted driver’s license.
Work Conditions / Physical Demands
- Frequent walking and verbal communication required.
- Occasional standing and sitting.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
