About the role

The participant will be trained on assembling, testing and calibrating microwave sensors for measurement of the dielectric properties of grain, seed, nuts, feed, and poultry meat at radio frequencies. During their time in our laboratory, the participant will gain experience in the development of inexpensive microwave sensors from concept to prototype testing and calibration.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the modeling of the dielectric response of materials with a focus on identifying correlations between dielectric properties and physical properties of interest.
  • Assemble, test, and calibrate microwave sensors for measurement of the dielectric properties of grain, seed, nuts, feed, and poultry meat at radio frequencies.
  • Gain experience in the development of inexpensive microwave sensors from concept to prototype testing and calibration.
  • Work under the guidance of the mentor, Samir Trabelsi.

Requirements

  • Master's or doctoral degree in relevant fields (Electronics, Physics, System Integration and Testing, Programming).
  • Completed degree within the past 60 months.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics, physics, system integration and testing, and programming.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Electronics
  • Physics
