About the role
The opportunity is available with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Partnerships for Data Innovations (PDI), an enterprise-level data solutions provider in the National Measurement and Monitoring Innovations Project within the Agroecosystem Management Research Unit (AMRU) in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Partnerships for Data Innovations (PDI) team to train in the agile and innovative development of customized data solutions that promote collaboration and stewardship of ARS's research data and other knowledge assets.
- Learn a diversity of technical skillsets to develop, host, and maintain both internal and public-facing custom data solutions such as web-based applications, digital research tools, and software that support the ARS core mission.
- Specific training may include, but is not limited to, database development, web application development, and software development.
- You may request a remote training appointment.
Requirements
- The qualified candidate should be currently pursuing or have received an associate's or bachelor's degree in the relevant fields.
- Preferred skills include knowledge in computer programming (Python, HTML, Java, Powershell) and IT science/security experience.
Qualifications
- The qualified candidate should be currently pursuing or have received an associate's or bachelor's degree in the relevant fields.
- Preferred educational background in computer sciences or related field.
- Any educational or work experience with agricultural data is a plus.
Skills
- Knowledge in computer programming (Python, HTML, Java, Powershell).
- IT science/security experience.
Benefits
- Monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience.
- The anticipated stipend range is $6,617 - $6,680 monthly.

- $6,617.00 - $6,680.00 Monthly
Schedule
- The appointment will initially be for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of ARS and is contingent on the availability of funds.
- The appointment is full time.
