About the role
The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is seeking a participant to work on wheat breeding and genetics research at their Pullman, Washington location.
Responsibilities
- Learn to cross wheat genotypes
- Grow and harvest tissue for DNA extraction
- Grow and transplant seedlings
- Care for plants in greenhouse settings
- Extract DNA, quantify and normalize DNA
- Run molecular marker assays
- Analyze results
- Quantify nutritional properties of whole-wheat flour
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field within the last 5 years
- U.S. citizenship
Qualifications
- Knowledge of wheat breeding and genetics
- Ability to perform laboratory procedures
- Strong attention to detail
