Department: Teachers. Reports to: Principal. Location: LHS – Upper School Academy. Job type: Full‑time, non‑exempt salaried position.

About the role

The SPED MOD Teacher is a cornerstone of Lawrence Public Schools, enriching the academic lives of students in the Upper School Academy. The district is committed to ensuring all students master the content and skills needed for graduation, college, and career readiness through a standards‑based, rigorous instructional program.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strong, positive force daily in the classroom, consistently and thoughtfully motivating students to work hard and want to learn.
• Design, implement, and collaborate on high‑quality shared curricula that incorporate research‑based strategies to help students master Massachusetts and Common Core standards.
• Motivate students to achieve high performance by setting class‑wide and individual goals and providing specific, actionable feedback on progress toward academic goals.
• Build supportive working relationships with fellow teachers, associate teachers, and staff, providing regular feedback to help develop associate teachers.
• Perform other responsibilities as needed and assigned by administration.

Skills

• Ability to implement a safe, purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning for all students.
• Ability to collaborate with other teachers, instructional leaders, and partners to ensure instruction meets the needs of all students.
• Prior experience teaching in this area preferred.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Teacher Certification in the appropriate area.
• Proficiency in English.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Pay

Salary range: $59,988 – $86,585 (posting also lists $59,988 – $91,857.91).
