Position Summary
As a Staff Data Scientist at Walmart, you will leverage advanced analytical techniques and machine learning to transform complex data into actionable business insights. This role requires expertise in data strategy, model development, and visualization to support decision-making across multiple domains. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data sources, validate models, and deploy scalable solutions that drive operational excellence.
What you'll do
- Develop world-class data ontology approach for our enterprise data platforms.
- Identify and source relevant data from multiple business domains and databases to support analytics initiatives.
- Perform initial data quality assessments to ensure accuracy and reliability of datasets.
- Develop, validate, and tune predictive models using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Create clear and insightful data visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Translate complex business problems into data-driven solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy models and monitor performance in production environments.
- Mentor team members on best practices in data science methodologies and coding standards.

What you'll bring
- Proven expertise in predictive analytics, machine learning algorithms, and advanced statistical modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in Python programming and data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, or Tableau.
- Strong knowledge of data management, data quality standards, and data governance principles.
- Experience with exploratory data analysis and big data analytics across structured and unstructured datasets.
- Experience with recommendation systems.
- Ability to assess, validate, and tune models using appropriate evaluation metrics and best practices.
- Understanding of business context to translate requirements into actionable data-driven solutions.
- Skilled in deploying and scaling models in production environments with continuous performance monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
- Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field.
- Option 3: 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Data science, machine learning, optimization models.
- PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics.
- Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.
- Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch).
- We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Additional Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include : Stock
