About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will drive the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment, while integrating advanced AI/ML components to enhance platform capabilities. This role requires strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving to meet business objectives. About the team
The Creative Platform team develops and maintains Walmart’s first-party self-service ad creative builder, enabling advertisers to create, process, and deliver ad creatives across Walmart’s retail media network. This team manages the full backend stack, including creative management APIs, video transcoding, and image optimization. Focused on scalable and reliable solutions, the team supports onsite and offsite ad delivery, ensuring high performance and seamless integration. Members collaborate closely to drive innovation, maintain system quality, and deliver impactful features that power Walmart’s advertising business end-to-end.
Responsibilities
- Own scoped feature and model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.
- Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
- Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software intelligence and leverage generative AI tools to improve development velocity.
- Assist in converting high-level designs into detailed, scalable, and maintainable solutions aligned with platform objectives.
- Conduct code reviews, debugging, and defect management to ensure software quality and performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and measure solution impact.
- Monitor application performance and support continuous improvement through proactive testing and integration.
Requirements
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year’s experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility.
Pay
Bellevue, Washington US-11663: The annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00 – $216,000.00
Sunnyvale, California US-11657: The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 – $234,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include stock.
