About the role

The Senior Software Engineer will lead the delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions using multiple programming languages and modern development practices. The engineer will integrate AI/ML components, drive continuous improvement, and support operational excellence through proactive monitoring and debugging. Strong technical judgment, effective collaboration, and a product-driven mindset are essential to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable systems that meet stakeholder needs and advance Walmart’s technology goals.

About the team

The Advertising Technology (AdTech) team develops scalable platforms supporting advertisers, agencies, partners, and internal stakeholders. Specializing in Ad Serving, Campaign Management, Lead Generation, Media Planning, Billing, Insights, Generative AI, and Reporting, the team delivers intelligent solutions that enhance advertiser engagement and operational efficiency. By aligning technology with business goals, AdTech drives advertising revenue growth and expands platform capabilities beyond Walmart Connect. The team fosters innovation and builds trusted partnerships across Walmart’s advertising ecosystem to support continuous advancement and high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of scoped features and components through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives.
  • Develop, test, and maintain high-quality, efficient code across multiple programming languages following best practices and documentation standards.
  • Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software capabilities and development efficiency.
  • Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and apply scalable, secure design patterns.
  • Monitor application performance, support CI/CD pipelines, and drive continuous improvement in software reliability and user experience.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate complex requirements into technical solutions and mentor team members.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++.
  • Strong expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Proven ability to deliver scoped features or models through collaborative engineering teams using iterative and incremental development.
  • Skilled in code review, debugging, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development.
  • Demonstrated technical judgment in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and experience supporting an inclusive culture through technology.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock for certain positions.
