Position Summary

Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by:

What you'll do...

Maintains standards for food safety and quality testing by:

  • Maintaining accurate documentation and testing control plans
  • Monitoring laboratory training and testing to ensure personnel proficiency in methods and protocols
  • Verifying processes and products comply with federal, state, and company specifications
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and precision

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by:

  • Hiring, training, and mentoring associates
  • Assigning duties and responsibilities
  • Providing recognition and feedback
  • Promoting a culture of belonging in the workplace

Leadership and Continuous Improvement

Leads continuous improvement efforts by:

  • Collaborating with management to streamline operations
  • Maintaining departmental efficiency
  • Anticipating and resolving issues before they impact compliance, product quality, or availability
  • Distributing work assignments to ensure timely completion and release of raw materials, bulk, and third-party products

Manages the business plan for the area of responsibility by:

  • Communicating goals, managing staffing and scheduling, and assigning duties
  • Cooking workflow and workload
  • Providing ongoing training (e.g., quality and food safety)
  • Supporting HACCP programs
  • Troubleshooting quality issues and assisting with regulatory compliance
  • Leading special projects

Manages laboratory inventory levels to ensure proper function by:

  • Following protocols for maintaining tools, equipment, and containers
  • Making sure consumables are rotated and used appropriately
  • Preparing purchase requisitions to maintain appropriate stock levels

Compliance and Ethics

Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by:

  • Implementing related action plans

Additional Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include : Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) Stock

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 year's supervising experience within a related environment (for example, dairy plant, food processing, manufacturing).
  • 2 years’ clerical experience (for example, filing, data entry) using computer applications (for example, email, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Visio).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or related field.
  • Chemical and microbiological methods using instrumentation (for example, HACCP program, HPLC, GC, ICP, ELISA, micro plate readers).
  • GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, SSOPs, CIP, SQF, FSMA, Appendix N Antibiotic Testing, DMC – Direct Microscopic Count, DMSC – Direct Microscopic Somatic Count, Sediment Testing, Freezing Point (Cryoscope).
  • Laboratory experience in a dairy plant, food processing or manufacturing laboratory (for example, micro lab, plating samples).
  • Supervising or leading a technical team.
