As a Developmental Technician specializing in Refrigeration and HVAC Maintenance at Walmart, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our stores, equipment, and fixtures.
Responsibilities
Working under the guidance of the local Market Manager, you'll follow established schedules and guidelines, performing inspections, cleaning, and repairs to keep everything running smoothly. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets by utilizing multiple craft skills (for example, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, and food equipment) and using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs
- Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair Work Orders to support Stores and Store associates and document repair activities
- Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls
- Inspecting, operating, or testing facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues
- Complete all required training requirements to operate equipment and tools safely
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Can lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
- Can move up and down ladders frequently
- Comfortable working at heights frequently
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Able to work in various temperatures
- Must maintain an excellent driving record
- Hold and maintain Universal or Type I and Type II Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report
- Option 1: 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area
- Option 2: 2 years’ Walmart store experience
- 21 years of age or older
- Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this role include:
- Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification of at least one year
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years
- Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related area for commercial HVAC/R and building controls
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
- Using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Pay
The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances.
