Developmental Technician, Facility Services HVAC/R
Position Summary
Provides required paperwork by completing forms (for example, expense vouchers, weekly summaries, refrigerant logs, work orders) and submitting forms to senior leadership. Assists other Facilities Services associates by gathering capital expenditures lists. Develops scopes of work to update heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) or energy management systems (for example, rooftop units, condenser coil replacements). Identifies other issues related to regular HVAC/R service. Under supervision, completes HVAC/R work assignments and priorities by using HVAC/R policies, data, and resources. Collaborates with management, coworkers, customers, and other business partners. Identifies HVAC/R priorities, deadlines, and expectations. Communicates progress and information. Determines and recommends ways to address improvement opportunities. Adapts to and learns from change, difficulties, and feedback. Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency regulations and guidelines by performing work according to applicable regulations, guidelines, and the practices and procedures outlined in the Walmart HVAC/R safety policy. Assists in controlling company costs by conducting price comparisons of refrigerants, parts, and travel-related costs. Submits warranty claims. Under supervision, performs major and minor preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC/R equipment, emergency management systems, and direct digital control equipment by replacing electrical motors or contactors. Changes and adjusts belts. Installs compressors. Completes work assignments and priorities following directions and/or guidance from Manager or Training Technician in HVAC/R service by using HVAC/R policies, data, and resources. Collaborates with management, co-workers, customers, and other business partners. Works or trains at multiple facilities or distant locations. Assists with the service and operation of company property by inspecting equipment (for example, tools, vehicles). Troubleshoots and diagnoses HVAC/R problems. Performs minor repairs. Schedules major repairs and maintenance. Uses heavy machinery. Maintains company vehicles in accordance with company policies and procedures. Coordinates and transports vehicles for required maintenance, ensuring beforehand that alternate driving support is arranged. Safely operates motor vehicle and ensures that the vehicle has all required documents. Checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights. Submits maintenance invoices for payment. Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance. Wears company uniform and badge in accordance with company policies and procedures. Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices.

Minimum Qualifications
- Hold and maintain Universal or Type I and Type II Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- One year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- Two years’ Walmart store experience.
- Twenty-one years of age or older.
- Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification of at least one year.
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
- Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related area for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
