Position Summary

Walmart is seeking an Energy Center Area Manager to oversee refrigeration and facility energy systems within a Grocery Distribution Center. This role involves leading operations, driving performance, ensuring safety and compliance, managing maintenance activities, developing teams, maintaining quality standards, resolving issues proactively, and managing financial performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Operations: Communicate goals, manage staffing and scheduling, assign duties, and coordinate workloads to meet production, safety, and quality targets.

  • Drive Performance & Productivity: Monitor and analyze refrigeration system performance and operational reports to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.

  • Ensure Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA (PSM), EPA, NFPA, DOT, and other applicable standards.

  • Manage Maintenance Activities: Oversee daily Energy Center operations, diagnose issues, direct repairs across various systems, and ensure proper equipment and tool maintenance.

  • Develop & Lead Teams: Supervise, coach, and develop associates and leaders through feedback, training, and performance evaluation processes.

  • Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure associates are trained and compliant with Walmart Logistics policies and procedures, maintain proper documentation, and uphold operational standards.

  • Resolve Issues Proactively: Identify root causes of associate, supplier, and operational concerns and implement effective solutions.

  • Manage Financial Performance: Track expenses and capital expenditures against budget, monitor asset utilization, and analyze operational data to drive cost efficiency.

  • Promote a Safe Work Environment: Ensure all equipment and tools are in proper working condition, investigate incidents, and maintain a safe work environment.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience managing industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia systems preferred)

  • Strong leadership and team development skills

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (OSHA PSM, EPA, NFPA, DOT, etc.)

  • Ability to analyze operational and financial data

  • Experience in maintenance operations within distribution, manufacturing, or industrial environments

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Jersey Gold seal license within 30 months of job entry date and maintain them while employed in this position

  • New Jersey Gold Seal license, Compliance, HVAC, Microsoft Office, Refrigeration Equipment - Supermarkets, Regulatory Agency, Supervising Associates, Warehouse Management Systems, Working with blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1 year Walmart Energy Center Refrigeration Technician experience OR 1 year industrial warehouse refrigeration systems experience OR 1 year refrigeration/HVAC maintenance supervisory experience.

  • Obtain Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) and Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) certifications within 30 months of job entry date and maintain them while employed in this position.
