(USA) Academy Manager, Supply Chain
Position Summary
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.
What you'll do...
- Ensures the execution of Academy programs by developing working relationships with catchment leadership; maintaining timely Academy class offerings and class scheduling; ensuring materials are reviewed and prepared for facilitators; ensuring facilitators are ready for class; identifying associate training needs; leveraging appropriate technology for facilitation processes; monitoring program reporting; providing recommendations for program improvement; ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained; reporting issues and complaints related to training schedules or requirements; and ensuring compliance with company and legal policies and procedures regarding confidentiality of associate files.
- Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.
- Remains current on compliance and operational changes; partners with general managers/senior directors of operations to serve as a resource and support One Best Way execution; ensuring associate understanding of business objectives; and remaining current on course materials, learning technologies, and tools and practices related to facilitation.
- Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.
- Delivers functional, compliance-related, and leadership training courses to designated audiences by preparing materials for course delivery via appropriately assigned blended delivery methods; modeling change leadership and delivering change initiatives; observing participant engagement in courses; applying adult learning techniques while delivering content; administering practices of course content and assessments; and answering questions related to course content and concept application.
- Evaluates the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consults with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; solicits, evaluates, and applies suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participates in and supports community outreach events.
- Ensures learning environments are conducive to appropriate learning and behavior changes; partners with Academy leadership to offer solutions for learning gaps; provides governance over training materials and course content; collaborates with stakeholders; observes and mentors facilitators to ensure quality content, delivery, and training.
- Sets up working relationships within the catchment; ensures associates are scheduled for training; and provides timely feedback regarding attendance/participation as needed for the certification process.
- Provides feedback on best practices; sets clear expectations; maintains open dialogue with team members; provides recommendations and talent development solutions; participates in upskilling events; ideates agendas, supports execution, and follows up to ensure team members achieve desired outcomes; and provides consistent follow-up in development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's Degree in Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Financial Management, Production/Operations Management, or related area and 1 year’s experience in an operations, distribution, logistics, or retail environment supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors, managing workloads, and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees for multiple departments/areas.
- Option 2: 1 year’s experience as a Walmart Logistics Area Manager supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates, managing associate workloads, and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates.
- Option 3: 3 years’ experience in an operations, distribution, logistics, or retail environment supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing employees, managing workloads, and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Financial Management, Production/Operations Management, or related area and 3 years’ experience in an operations, distribution, or logistics environment supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing employees, managing workloads, and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees.
- Experience as a Walmart Logistics supervisor or manager supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates, managing associate workloads, and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates.
- Experience managing budgets, managing profit and loss, developing staffing forecasts, and analyzing financial/operational data.
