Responsibilities
- Receive coversheet and assigned cart for each series of orders, log onto the voice system to begin the voice-directed picking process.
- Move the cart through the product bin aisles and pick corresponding products from product bins, placing the correct product and quantity into the cart; small items are bagged or banded together for easier identification.
- Verify product during the picking process and may verify during the packing process.
- Maintain daily individual production records by writing down the time particular tasks are performed (records are reviewed by the supervisor).
- After completing the cart, return it to the staging area and may begin packing customer orders by verifying products selected and checking off as appropriate on packing lists.
- Select appropriately sized boxes or envelopes for shipment to avoid bending, crushing, or shifting of items during delivery.
- Pack all orders neatly and correctly in a box to ensure quality, including:
- Packing glass items in bubble wrap.
- Placing small items in a bag.
- Placing all liquids in a bag and packing them standing upright.
- Follow proper packing procedures.
- Report any error in product selection or quality to the appropriate team member or area and/or correct the order as necessary before shipment.
- Send orders along the conveyor system to the appropriate location for packing material to be added and boxes to be sealed, then place packed customer orders on the conveyor system for shipment.
- Process special orders using the special order process.
- Dispose of empty boxes and packaging appropriately to maintain safe and clean working conditions.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
- Meet company standards for quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis.
- Perform all work-related tasks in compliance with Company policies and procedures, including Worldwide Business Standards.
- Adhere to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior.
Qualifications
- Good reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
- Strong communication (written/verbal) skills.
- Detail-oriented with accountability for making accurate decisions under set guidelines.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, work under stress, and handle multiple assignments.
- Ability to read fine print and differentiate products with similar characteristics (size, color, vendor code).
- Knowledge of basic warehousing operations preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or comparable work experience.
Physical Demands
- Lifting:
- Individual products: 0–10 lbs – Frequent
- 11–20 lbs – Occasional
- Lifting and carrying:
- Boxes: 0–25 lbs – Occasional
- 25–50 lbs – Infrequent
- Pushing/pulling: Up to 25 lbs of force continuously to move carts.
- Gripping with one or both hands: Continuously.
- Twisting/bending: Frequently.
- Reaching overhead: Occasionally.
- Climbing ladders/stepstools: Occasionally.
- Walking/standing on concrete: Continuously.
- Utilizes hand tools such as computer, box cutter, scanner, and tape gun.
- Based on work location, may work in an area that is not temperature-controlled.
