About the role

Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote.

  • If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. You will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week and work from your home for the remaining portion.
  • If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. You will work from your home within the continental US. Occasional in-office requests may occur based on business need and will be communicated in advance.

What it takes to be successful in this role

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and planning
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting and expense management
  • In-depth knowledge of budget systems to assist business units and gather data for review and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience performing financial analyses and quantitative business-based analyses; ability to prepare trend analyses using internal and external information to recommend improvements or solutions
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (STAT), and IRS guidelines
  • Understanding of the P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with different areas/levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Strong data analysis skills used to research, interpret, and present findings
  • Understanding of business fundamentals and qualitative/quantitative business-based analysis and metrics
  • Ability to work independently under deadline pressure with competing priorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field
  • 6 years of professional job-related work experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Insurance industry experience (preferred)
  • Travel less than or equal to 10%

Responsibilities

  • Provides analytical insights and summary reporting for stakeholders to inform and describe risks and opportunities in their areas of responsibility
  • Develops visual dashboards for stakeholders to easily comprehend data and identify trends, patterns, and outliers within financial data sets
  • Provides key analysis and recommendations used to administer and support the development and continuous improvement of planning, performance, and reporting
  • Analyzes data to assist with operational and strategic plans; collects and analyzes data to create and evaluate programs supporting organizational and sales initiatives; continuously tracks and analyzes spend patterns to identify opportunities to reduce expenses, best practices, and drive implementation
  • Develops and provides appropriate models, reports, and metrics to support informed decision-making; identifies and highlights key trends and provides insight based on analysis; prepares updates, progress and variance reports, and other ad-hoc reports for management; continuously reviews, recommends, and implements improvements to increase report value
  • May work on Cost Benefit Analysis; may work on estimating and modeling benefits
  • Serves as a subject matter expert related to budgets and expenses for business units, analysts, and management; monitors developments related to business operations; assists in assessing and evaluating emerging issues; works with management to provide and gather relevant information for the budget planning process; collaborates with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to resolve issues
  • Recommends improvements to processes and procedures to streamline activities, enhance service turnaround time, improve productivity, and improve quality; leads or facilitates team-based improvement projects; identifies, analyzes, and recommends viable technological solutions, modifications, and applications for Financial Planning and Analysis processes
  • Assists in training and mentoring less experienced staff
  • Performs other ad-hoc analysis and related duties as assigned

Pay

The salary range for this job is $88,000 – $130,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors including education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of posting. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions depend on the circumstances of each case. This range does not include potential incentive pay or benefits.
