The US Deputy Compliance Officer position is listed on behalf of a partner company. This is a key leadership role within a fast-growing financial technology environment, supporting a complex US compliance program. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational ownership across BSA/AML and consumer compliance functions.
Accountabilities
- Support the execution and continuous improvement of the US compliance program, serving as a key operational leader across regulatory, risk, and consumer protection initiatives.
- Lead daily BSA/AML compliance operations, including SAR quality reviews, FinCEN regulatory reporting, transaction monitoring oversight, and escalation of material compliance concerns.
- Act as a key compliance escalation point and provide operational support to senior compliance leadership.
- Support consumer compliance program execution, including reviews related to UDAAP, Reg E, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, marketing materials, disclosures, and customer communications.
- Manage the consumer complaints program from intake through resolution, identifying trends, systemic issues, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Manage multi-state money transmission licensing activities, including renewals, regulatory notifications, and preparation for examinations.
- Maintain strong oversight of sponsor bank compliance commitments by tracking open items, documentation, and remediation activities.
- Contribute to executive and board-level compliance reporting, risk assessments, and strategic compliance initiatives.
- Develop and improve compliance policies, procedures, and documentation using technology and AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
- Conduct regulatory research and prepare evidence packages, policy updates, and compliance materials.
- Collaborate with business teams to provide practical compliance guidance while maintaining regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Deep experience in US financial services compliance, particularly within payments, fintech, money transmission, or related regulated environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with both BSA/AML and consumer compliance programs.
- Solid understanding of BSA/AML requirements, FinCEN regulations, OFAC requirements, SAR processes, and CTR processes.
- Experience supporting consumer compliance areas including UDAAP, Reg E, and complaints management.
- Familiarity with multi-state money transmission licensing requirements and state regulatory expectations.
- Experience working with sponsor banks or Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) compliance structures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear policies, guidance documents, and regulatory correspondence.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and make sound compliance decisions with limited supervision.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying risks and improvements.
- CAMS certification or progress toward certification preferred; CRCM certification considered a plus.
- Experience supporting regulatory examinations, supervisory reviews, MSBs, remittance providers, crypto firms, or OCC-supervised institutions is advantageous.
