Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Patient registration including check-in, obtaining insurance cards, and obtaining signatures on consent forms.
  • New patient referrals, scheduling, and rescheduling patient appointments and scheduling ancillary testing.
  • Co-pay collection, obtaining insurance authorizations for testing ordered.
  • Answering phones, routing calls, accurately taking messages, and forwarding on to the appropriate personnel.
  • Mailing and faxing distribution, and other clerical duties as requested.
  • May require secretarial/office skills such as transcription or dictation.
  • Coordination of provider schedules, obtaining insurance authorizations, and assisting in completing pre-surgical paperwork in anticipation of future growth of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of secretarial/administrative experience, or an Associate's degree and one year of experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills, computer skills, and strong customer service skills required.
  • Experience with front desk reception, multi-line phone system, fax and scanning devices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in specialty medical office front desk experience.
  • Knowledge and use of EPIC electronic medical record system.
  • Experience with insurance authorization process for specialty services procedures and treatments.
  • Experience in registering patients and discharging patients and knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred.

Work Days

Monday - Friday, Hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
