Urgent Opening for Mainframe Developer

About the role

Deloitte is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support an enterprise application development project. This is a 6-month contract with potential for extension or conversion, and the work is 100% remote.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and implement COBOL and IMS DB/DC applications on IBM Mainframe/z/OS.
• Develop and maintain both online IMS transactions and batch programs.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Participate in application design, development, unit testing, system testing, and implementation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, production issues, and performance-related problems.
• Create and maintain technical design documentation, program specifications, and testing documentation.
• Collaborate with developers, testers, business analysts, and other technical teams to deliver solutions on schedule.
• Support code reviews, testing activities, defect resolution, and implementation activities.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL and IMS DB/DC on IBM Mainframe/z/OS.
• Experience with Telon, ISPF, PDF, and JCL.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, debugging, and implementing IMS/COBOL online and batch applications.
• Strong understanding of IMS database and transaction processing concepts.
• Solid troubleshooting and debugging skills in a mainframe environment.
• Ability to analyze existing applications and develop enhancements or fixes.
• Strong experience creating technical design and application documentation.
• Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, and unit/system testing activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet project deadlines.
