About the role

Radiology Techs at Haywood Regional Hospital play a crucial role in providing timely and accurate diagnostic imaging services to patients in our Urgent Care Canton clinic. Our team works closely with providers, nurses, and lab assistants to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician’s orders.
  • Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure their understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Maintains patient condition and reports/responds to changes in status as necessary.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.
  • Analyzes results and takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.

Requirements

  • Current state Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Graduate from an approved course in Radiologic Technology.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Hospital training during two years of Radiologic Technologist program.
  • Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics, or medical offices is highly desirable.
  • Must be a member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible and maintain registry once received.
  • Desirable to belong to national, state, and/or local societies.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
  • Current state Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics, or medical offices.
  • ARRT membership or registry eligibility.

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Proficiency with medical imaging equipment.
