Urban Designer
About the role
LMN is seeking an experienced Urban Designer to join our team. We are an internationally recognized design practice that designs places that elevate the social experience. Our Urban Systems Lab engages in projects at the intersection of architecture, urban design, and city planning using a research-based, systems-oriented approach.
Responsibilities
- Generating design and planning alternatives for infrastructure and development projects.
- Leading analysis for structure, buildings, sites, networks, and neighborhoods.
- Producing clear diagrams to explain ideas, concepts, and alternatives.
- Aiding in outreach and engagement.
- Using 3D modeling and visualization tools such as Rhino, Grasshopper, and Enscape, and AI-enabled design exploration tools.
- Writing and producing highly visual and conceptually clear reports and presentations.
- Preparing design documentation, guidelines, concept packages, and implementation materials.
- Providing code and policy review for architectural projects.
- Coordinating with clients and consultants.
Requirements
- Professional degree in urban design, landscape architecture, architecture, city planning, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a range of planning and urban design contexts.
- Proficiency in existing and emerging design and visualization tools and technologies, such as the Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, and ArcGIS.
- Ability to self-direct and work independently as well as in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

- Show experience in and a commitment to inclusive and equitable stakeholder engagement.
- Play a pivotal role in elevating the work of the Urban Systems Lab inside and outside of the office.
- Be in or willing to relocate to Seattle, working in person 4 days a week.
Skills
- Project experience in digital prototyping, fabrication, visualization, or immersive environments is preferred, especially when paired with a desire to contribute to team-wide knowledge and capability.

Pay
This is a salaried position with a pay range of $90,000 to $105,000. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
LMN employees collaborate in-office on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Fridays are hybrid workdays that allow employees to work in the office, from home, or any location they choose. Core work hours are from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm and provide flexibility for employees to structure their schedules around personal commitments and commuting.
