About the role
The UNM-Valencia Upward Bound Program provides academic-based after school and summer programs for qualified students who attend high school in Valencia County at Los Lunas High School, Valencia High School, or Belen High School. This federally funded program is in its tenth year of instruction and tutoring for first generation (college) and income eligible students who intend to graduate from college with a Bachelor’s Degree. This is a grant funded position that ends 08/31/2027 and will be renewed annually based on availability of federal funding. The position is expected to expire on 08/31/2027.
Responsibilities
- Assist in scheduling tutoring sessions.
- Develop academic and enrichment activities for high school students committed to positive self‑development, leadership, and learning.
- Work with students studying to understand basic concepts in key subject areas.
- Support advanced students who are able to excel with their comprehension and use of the most challenging concepts, in person or virtual.
