Upstate New York Spring 2027 & Summer 2027 Accounting Internship

About the role

The Bonadio Group offers internships that provide hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to grow in public accounting. Interns will work alongside staff accountants, senior accountants, managers, principals, and partners, performing meaningful accounting work and contributing to real client engagements.

Responsibilities

• Tax Internship: Prepare individual, small business, and corporate tax returns, assist with tax research and planning projects, analyze financial information and supporting documentation, and collaborate with experienced tax professionals on client engagements.
• Small Business Advisory Internship: Assist with bookkeeping and accounting functions, support financial statement compilations, prepare and review client financial information, learn small business tax preparation processes, work directly with accounting professionals serving a diverse client base, and develop an understanding of advisory services and client relationships.
• Assurance Internship: Explore the audit and assurance profession through hands-on projects and meaningful client work, including opportunities within The Efficiency Center, Form 990 preparation and review support, Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) engagements, Technical Accounting Standards Update (ASU) projects, Innovation initiatives focused on improving processes and client service, Year-end audit engagements alongside experienced Assurance professionals.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s in accounting program.
• Coursework that supports progress toward the requirements for CPA eligibility.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Passion for client service and continuous learning.

Pay

The rate of pay for this role is $22/hour. Hours Of Operation: Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Our summer hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Schedule

Expected Schedule: Approximately 20–25 hours per week in the Spring, approximately 36 hours per week in the Summer.
