Upright Shrink Operator
SP Industries Inc. is hiring for our team in Vineland, NJ.
About the role
We have an immediate opening for an Upright Shrink Operator. This position operates on a 4/10s schedule: Monday through Thursday on 1st Shift.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of duties involving the preparation activities to shrink Pyrex, Quartz, and other types of glass.
- Perform shrink preparation operations on parts to meet customer and/or internal company prints and specifications.
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications written in English.
- Use a variety of measuring instruments to ensure parts meet quality levels.
- Execute sustained production in the shrink preparation department.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Assist the lead in managing the supply of replacement parts, tools, and/or supplies.
- Observe all precautions, rules, and regulations related to environmental, health, and safety matters (e.g., PPE, proper disposal of wastes).
- Maintain quality and production standards.
- Understand BOMs and routers.
- Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods.
- Report any unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, or defects in equipment or protective devices.
- Ensure required protective equipment is used for assigned tasks.
- Attend all required health, safety, and environmental training.
- Report any accidents or incidents to a supervisor and assist in investigating them.
- Refrain from engaging in pranks, contests, feats of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2-5 years of glass experience (desired).
- Appropriate hand and eye coordination.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Basic 5S concepts.
- Prior experience working in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in math.
- Ability to read and speak English.
- Light travel to alternative location (Buena, NJ) as needed.
