Responsibilities
- Assist in the direction and instruction in the sport of rowing.
- Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes in the sport of rowing emphasizing the students’ holistic development.
- Aid in the planning, organization, and direction of all Upper School Rowing practices.
- Understand the rules governing the sport of rowing.
- Support the management of logistics and operations for all regattas.
- Communicate regularly with student-athletes and parents.
- Provide guidance for the college selection process for Upper School Rowing student-athletes and their families.
- Work towards attracting quality student-athletes to Germantown Academy.
- Regularly meet with the Head Coach of Rowing to review the program's status.
- Adhere to professional guidelines as outlined in the GA Coaches Handbook.
- Model and uphold the GA mission and standards set forth in the GA Staff/Faculty Handbook.
- Participate in professional development opportunities in the sport of rowing and coaching.
Qualifications
- Previous participation in rowing at the high school or collegiate level.
- Minimum 1 year coaching experience (preferable within a school setting).
- Ability to travel to and from athletic practices between the hours of 3pm-6pm, Monday through Friday and to and from regattas on weekend days.
- A minimum of an associate degree; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license.
