UPK Substitute Teacher Assistant

About the Role

Little Lukes is seeking enthusiastic Substitute Teacher Assistants to support inclusion UPK preschool classrooms in Watertown, NY. The role involves providing enjoyable and meaningful activities for children, working collaboratively with a team, and being available for substitute calls as needed. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to grow into a regular five‑day position and contribute to the school calendar plus a six‑week summer program.

Responsibilities

• Provide enjoyable and meaningful activities for children in the UPK preschool classroom.
• Assist teachers and support the inclusion of children with special needs.
• Work collaboratively with a team of educators and caregivers.
• Respond to substitute calls as needed, maintaining flexibility.
• Contribute to a positive, energetic, and caring classroom environment.
• Participate in school calendar activities and the six‑week summer program.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• NYS Teaching Assistant certification preferred but not required.
• Genuine enjoyment of working with young children.
• High energy level and a caring, positive personality.
• Experience with special needs children and preschool‑aged children is a plus.
• Prior babysitting or childcare experience is helpful but not required.
• Prior experience in childcare, daycare, or preschool settings is preferred.

Schedule

• Core hours: Monday through Friday, 8 am – 1 pm, with flexibility based on your availability.
• Substitute calls as needed, with potential to transition to a regular five‑day role.
