Key Responsibilities
- Prepare seats, panels, and backing boards for upholsters.
- Cut foam and other materials according to templates and measurements.
- Aid with light construction and assembly of seats and panels.
- Remove old upholstery, staples, and hardware from existing boat components.
- Sand, clean, and prepare surfaces for new upholstery work.
- Organize materials and stage components for upholsterers and the machine cutting materials.
- Operate basic shop tools such as staple and glue guns, saws, drills, and sanders.
- Assist upholsterers with installation and shop tasks as needed.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks on assembled parts to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with the supervisor to identify and resolve manufacturing and assembly issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety and 5S standards.
- Accurately and promptly record completed work, materials used, and any issues encountered.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications
- Basic experience with hand tools and shop equipment.
- Ability to measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately.
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly, preferably in marine, automotive, or related industries preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor issues.
- Knowledge of boating components or marine systems a plus.
