Upfit Technician I

Responsibilities

• Follow all Wabash Nationals WPO guidelines
• Achieve all required certifications
• Work safely and use proper PPE
• Work in a team environment
• Perform repairs and procedures in a safe and timely manner
• Read work orders and VINs to ensure correct components and vehicles
• Operate pneumatic and battery-powered cordless tools
• Read basic drawings and prints
• Apply adhesives and mechanical fasteners
• Operate sanders and apply light-duty paint material
• Operate saws and drill press equipment
• Record part numbers on work orders
• Understand 12v or automotive electrical systems
• Perform other duties assigned by management

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
• Intermediate mechanical skills/knowledge and welding experience preferred
• Current driver’s license
• Truck body or equipment manufacturing repair and troubleshooting ability with minimal supervision
• Ability to work off scaffolding up to ten to twelve feet
• Physical demands: standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 35 pounds, carrying up to 55 pounds, operating various power and hand tools, working with compressed air, operating fork trucks, overhead cranes, scissor lifts, and using personal protective equipment (PPE)
