Upfit Technician 1

Responsibilities

• Follow all Wabash WPO guidelines
• Achieve all required certifications
• Work safely and use proper PPE
• Work in a team environment
• Perform repairs and procedures in a safe and timely manner
• Operate pneumatic and battery-powered cordless tools
• Read basic drawings and prints
• Apply adhesives and mechanical fasteners
• Operate sanders and apply light-duty paint material
• Operate saws and drill press equipment
• Record part numbers on work orders
• Basic understanding of 12v or automotive electrical system
• Read work orders completely, check VIN for correct components and vehicle
• Perform other duties assigned by management

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
• Advanced mechanical and 12v electrical skills with welding experience
• Truck body or equipment manufacturing repair and ability to troubleshoot/problem solve with minimal supervision
• Capability to work off scaffolding up ten to twelve feet
• Current driver’s license

Physical Demands

• Minimum of eight hours standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body mechanics/movements
• Frequently required to lift and carry up to fifty-five (55) pounds
• Must be able to work in an environment requiring use of ladder, stairs, heights, platforms and climbing in and out of trucks and vans or working under trucks in tight spaces
• Must have ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools safely, work with compressed air safely, operate fork trucks, overhead crane, and scissor lift safely and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE)
