Role Summary
This position involves developing and implementing high-fidelity simulation applications within Unreal Engine, primarily using C++. The role requires managing large-scale 3D assets, optimizing rendering performance, and integrating complex simulation protocols. The candidate will contribute to advanced real-time simulation features and support multi-user environments, ensuring a seamless and realistic experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement application logic in Unreal Engine using C++, focusing on performance and scalability.
- Load, manage, and optimize large DLCs and plugin assets containing extensive 3D models such as aircraft, naval systems, and civilian assets.
- Implement level-of-detail logic to enhance rendering efficiency based on object visibility and range.
- Integrate simulation protocols including DIS, CIGI, and OMS to enable real-time data exchange and actor control.
- Develop UI components for sensor data visualization, geographic overlays, and user interaction features.
- Support multiple camera modes, including cinematic, tracking, and cockpit perspectives.
- Build integrations for exporting simulation data and consuming input from remote control systems.
- Implement networking features for multiplayer experiences and synchronized simulation across multiple instances.
- Contribute to the development of advanced simulation features such as photogrammetry environments, IR/SAR sensors, and environmental effects like weather and time-of-day.
- Optimize application performance, including rendering and real-time data processing, within a complex simulation ecosystem.
Qualifications

- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with Unreal Engine development in C++.
- Strong proficiency in C++ programming and real-time 3D application development.
- Knowledge of game engine architecture, actor systems, and scene management.
- Experience with performance optimization in real-time environments.
- Ability to work effectively as a software engineer specializing in simulation systems.
- Experience supporting proof-of-concept and production simulation projects.

Pay Range: $80.00 – $90.00 hourly
This is a hybrid position, offering a flexible schedule with time split between remote work and onsite collaboration.
