About the role

The University Police Department (UPD), Southern Command, is recruiting for multiple positions of University Police Officer 1 (PO1). This role involves protecting university employees, students, and the general public; patrolling and safeguarding university properties; conducting traffic and criminal investigations; and maintaining law and order.

Responsibilities

• Preparing for security and law enforcement activities surrounding special events
• Preparing for appearances in court
• Maintaining law and order

Requirements

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience in public contact work which included application of rules, regulations or established procedures. Must meet minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.

Skills

Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing law enforcement activities. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to make decisions and judgments in emergency situations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical fitness and stamina to perform law enforcement duties.

Pay

Grade 36 Step 1, salary $69,279.84.
