About the role

The Universal Banker serves as a full-service, single point of contact in the branch for SouthState customers’ financial needs. The position operates in the dual capacity of a Teller and Financial Service Representative (FSR), providing exceptional customer service in both transactional and account management. The Universal Banker seeks to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships and is responsible for contributing to the financial growth of the bank.

Responsibilities

• Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to SouthState Bank Service Standards.
• Knows and understands the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts, features, benefits, rules, regulations, and pricing.
• Identifies customer needs and expectations by listening for clues; expands customer relationships by making referrals.
• Presents a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy.
• Ensures compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
• Develops a strong understanding of customer-facing technology and enrolls customers in self-service options.

Teller Duties

• Processes transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
• Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
• Assists in guiding and training new tellers.
• Allows customers access to safe deposit boxes.
• Cashes checks and processes savings withdrawals within assigned limits.
• Sells certified checks.
• Balances transactions daily.
• Services/balances ATM and utilizes the branch capture system.
• Follows policies and procedures to minimize operational errors and maintain workflow.
• Follows the branch’s security and audit procedures.

FSR Duties

• Opens new deposit accounts and handles services such as stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions.
• Explains policies and procedures to customers.
• Resolves customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion.
• Promotes additional services by addressing customer concerns.
• Shows appreciation for each customer’s time and business.
• Ensures branch records, reports, and correspondence are correct and timely.
• Follows the branch’s security and audit procedures.

Universal Banker Functions

• Eighteen months of teller or cash handling experience and six months of customer relationship building or sales experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in Teller II and basic FSR job functions.
• May include vault responsibilities or back-up vault duties.
• Increased approval limits for teller transactions and check sign-offs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Cash handling, sales, and customer service experience; previous banking experience preferred.
• Good interpersonal and computer skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.

• Ability to identify customers.

Work Environment

This position is typically in an open lobby area with an individual workstation, located inside a cooled and heated facility. Travel may be required for meetings or training.

Pay

Colorado pay for this position is anticipated to be between $41,094.00 and $61,641.00. Actual offers will be determined based on applicant’s skills, experience, and education.
