UNIV - Postdoctoral Scholar - Department of Regenerative Medicine

Job Duties

• Design and perform laboratory experiments to advance independent research projects in collaboration with the PI.
• Oral and written communication of research results within the lab, within MUSC, and to the external scientific community.
• Research progress expected to advance to publications through writing and editing manuscripts and presenting results using Powerpoint slides.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records.
• Aid in maintaining laboratory equipment and training other laboratory personnel.
• Prepare applications to internal or external sources of fellowship support.

Physical Requirements

• Continuous: Perform job functions in an upright position, seated position, and while walking.
• Frequent: Climb stairs, bend at the waist, twist at the waist, perform pinching operations, reach in all directions, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders, lift and carry up to 15 lbs., lower objects up to 15 lbs., push/pull objects up to 15 lbs., lift and carry objects up to 15 lbs. a distance of five floors and to outlying buildings, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, match or discriminate between colors, determine distance/relationship between objects, and maintain peripheral vision.
• Infrequent: Work in all cold temperature extremes, work alone in isolated areas, and work rotating shifts as required.

Additional New Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
• Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree.
• Research experience in any relevant area of biomedical science, including molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and/or cell biology.

Pay

Salary range: Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

40 scheduled weekly hours.
