Job Description

The Department of Neurology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Neuromuscular Neurologist to join their growing faculty. The ideal candidate must have expertise in nerve and muscle diseases, board certification in Neurology and Neuromuscular diseases, and EMG and/or Clinical Neurophysiology. Strong teaching and medical student/resident education experience is also required.

  • Teaching and mentoring medical students, neurology residents, and Neurophysiology fellows.
  • Participation in Neuromuscular clinical trial research programs with opportunities for collaboration across the university.
  • Support from a Nurse Practitioner for the MUSC Neuromuscular Program.
  • Leading-edge facilities designed for neuromuscular patient care.
  • Part of a clinically robust program recognized by the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the ALS Association.

About the Role

MUSC is a leading clinical Neuromuscular program in South Carolina, offering advanced diagnostics, multidisciplinary planning, and a full spectrum of medical and innovative therapies. The department is part of a rapidly growing academic program located in the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert care in nerve and muscle diseases.
  • Contribute to medical student and resident education.
  • Collaborate on Neuromuscular clinical trials.
  • Advocate for and participate in research initiatives.

Requirements

Board certification in Neurology and Neuromuscular diseases, along with EMG and/or Clinical Neurophysiology certification. Experience in teaching and medical student/resident education is essential.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Neurology or related field, with a focus on Neuromuscular diseases. A minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in Neuromuscular Neurology is preferred.

Skills

Strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Proficiency in EMG and/or Clinical Neurophysiology is highly desirable.
