About the role
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Neurology seeks a qualified individual to join the faculty as an outpatient General Neurologist. Board certification in General Neurology is required. Women and minority applicants are encouraged to apply. VISA candidates are also welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
- Help provide exemplary care for a wide range of patients presenting with various Neurological Diseases.
- Facilitate access to timely care.
- Collaborate in care with a complete range of subspecialists in Neurology and Neurosurgery.
- Primary location is an outreach clinic setting in West Ashley, North Charleston, and Summerville/Nexton regions.
- The ideal candidate will be well-trained and experienced with a diverse patient population, and will possess excellent clinical, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- After hours and weekend call obligations are minimal.
- The position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on the clinical educator track, depending upon the qualifications and accomplishments of the applicant.

- Ability to lift and carry 150 lbs., unassisted.
- Ability to lift objects, up to 75 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted.
- Ability to lower objects, up to 75 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted.
- Ability to lift and carry patients weighing up to 300 lbs., assisted.
- Ability to push/pull objects, up to 200 lbs., unassisted.
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected.
- Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
- Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.
- Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
- Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
- Good peripheral vision capabilities.
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
- Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet.
- Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills.
- Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
- Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.
Qualifications
- Ability to maintain a valid drivers license.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work rotating shifts.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
