About the role

The Dental Faculty Practice Clinic Manager oversees and manages the clinical and administrative operations for Dental Faculty Practice. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, this role collaborates with the Director of Clinical Operations and the department Business Manager(s) to manage departmental financial resources and human resource functions.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules all patients and providers, including managing the on-call schedule for DFP providers.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and reassigns team members based on operational needs.
  • Conducts routine staff meetings and collaborates with other Floor Managers and the Director of Clinical Operations to maintain operational consistency.
  • Maintains staff performance, provides coaching and feedback, and participates in performance evaluations.
  • Maintains inventory of dental instruments, supplies, and materials for the assigned floor.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the DFP clinic, collaborating with the Business Manager to maintain and update the operating budget.
  • Facilitates major equipment purchases with the department’s Business Manager.
  • Monitors monthly inspection reports to ensure compliance with pharmaceuticals and dental materials.
  • Develops and maintains clinical policies and procedures for the department.
  • Tracks assets annually through Assets Management (AIM).
  • Ensures staff adherence to CDM, MUSC, OSHA, HIPAA, and other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Provides training and onboarding support for new dental assistants and hygienists on floor-specific protocols.
  • Manages staff time and attendance, approves leave requests, and monitors compensatory time and/or overtime.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources Director, Human Resources Business Partner, and Director of Clinical Operations on HR-related issues for the staff.
  • Reports to and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Operations and/or associated departmental faculty.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and five years relevant experience in business management, public administration or administrative services; or a bachelor's degree and three years experience in business management, public administration or administrative services.

  • Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to hear and/or understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet.
