Job Summary
Provides support to hospital patient/care units. Attends nursing stations and performs clerical and reception duties and other services as directed. Promotes an organized, efficient and smooth functioning unit.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the patient records
- Aids in the admission coordination of the patient
- Transcribes and inputs physicians orders and patient information in a timely and accurate manner
- Notifies nurse of orders requiring immediate attention and of stat, abnormal and diagnostic test results when completed
- Screens and delivers phone and mail to appropriate individual
- Greets and directs patients, visitors, physicians and employees upon arrival to department
- Communicates issues or concerns to appropriate individual
- Assesses and prioritizes a rapidly changing workload
- Completes work in a timely manner
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment
Qualifications
- Special Skills: Basic computer skills and able to use phone and fax. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Minimum Requirements: Education - High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Preferred Requirements: Experience - One year experience in a hospital setting. Certification/Registration - CPR
