Job Summary

Provides support to hospital patient/care units. Attends nursing stations and performs clerical and reception duties and other services as directed. Promotes an organized, efficient and smooth functioning unit.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the patient records
  • Aids in the admission coordination of the patient
  • Transcribes and inputs physicians orders and patient information in a timely and accurate manner
  • Notifies nurse of orders requiring immediate attention and of stat, abnormal and diagnostic test results when completed
  • Screens and delivers phone and mail to appropriate individual
  • Greets and directs patients, visitors, physicians and employees upon arrival to department
  • Communicates issues or concerns to appropriate individual
  • Assesses and prioritizes a rapidly changing workload
  • Completes work in a timely manner
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment

Qualifications

  • Special Skills: Basic computer skills and able to use phone and fax. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Minimum Requirements: Education - High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Preferred Requirements: Experience - One year experience in a hospital setting. Certification/Registration - CPR
