Act as a liaison, greet visitors, patients, and health care team members in a courteous, customer-focused manner. Ensure patient charts are organized, accurate, and complete per hospital chart order. Initiate breakdown of chart and complete discharge checklist. Monitor electronic record for new orders, consults for completion, accurate treatment teams, patient status, new results, and advance directives. Complete order entry for equipment, advance diet, and transport orders. Order patient supplies and unit equipment as needed. Monitor and update inventory and downtime bin. Enter dietary intake. Assist with safety and environmental rounds, monitor cleanliness, and assist with infection prevention efforts.
Current Open Positions
- Cardiothoracic Progressive Care (HC4) - Full-time, 7am-7:30pm, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
- FM/IM Progressive Care (HC7) - Full-time, 3-11pm, Monday-Friday.
- Internal Med/Med Surg (BH42) - Part-time, 7am-7:30pm, 2 weekdays/week (must be flexible on the days).
Responsibilities
- Answer telephone and triage calls to unit; call for consults, support, and ancillary departments as needed.
- Assist in monitoring patient disposition at all times as they leave or return to unit, using log.
- Assist with non-patient care needs as needed or requested by unit staff (turning of flights, delivering mail, delivering flowers, etc.).
- Complete needed filing.
- Ensure call light system is updated with patient assignments each shift.
- Inform Admitting of discharges immediately upon patient leaving unit if needed.
- May be required to provide constant observation.
- Routinely maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Schedule follow-up appointments for patients.
- Transport items to ancillary departments as needed and pick up any items if required.
- Perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Completion of Medical Terminology class preferred.
