The Unit Secretary plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation of the department, ensuring that all unit/floor procedures are coordinated to provide quality patient care. This position requires collaboration with various health care team members and other departments.
Responsibilities
- Answering unit phones and collaborating with health care team members
- Scheduling patient tests and appointments
- Maintaining all medical records
- Initiating and tracking unit requests
- Cooking discharges, transfers, and admissions proactively
- Receiving visitors and responding to patient and family needs
- Ordering, expediting, and distributing unit, clerical, and patient care supplies
- Communicating with healthcare team members via VOCERA communication device
- Performing clerical duties to admit, transfer, and discharge patients
- Communicating with healthcare team members via VOCERA communication device
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to provide interdisciplinary patient family centered care
- Providing clerical support to unit staff as needed
