About the role

As Unit Manager- Utilities in Elkton, VA, you will lead, coach, mentor, and motivate an operations team for the effective, safe operation, quality, asset care, and optimization of brewery utilities. You will ensure high-quality products are produced cost-effectively and safely through standardized work practices and process optimization, manage brewery process safety management, and utilize World Class Supply Chain principles to contribute to operational excellence.

This position reports to the Sr. Manager Technical Services and works closely with asset care teams, process leaders, and other brewery staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of talented colleagues, supporting their growth and development through career discussions and consistent one-on-one conversations.
• Ensure operating and process control by monitoring performance, process capability, and accuracy of operation.
• Manage asset care of utilities equipment by administering and maintaining the asset care program, ensuring sufficient maintenance schedules are carried out.
• Uphold the highest quality standards, prioritizing quality over production targets.
• Drive cost efficiency and productivity through problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead team performance, talent, and career management, fostering a culture of employee engagement.
• Lead site sustainability initiatives and projects focused on reducing energy consumption, water usage, emissions, and environmental impact.
• Partner with the Environmental Compliance team to ensure compliance with wastewater, water, and PSM regulations, including permit management and regulatory reporting.
• Champion and manage electrical and process safety programs, including medium-voltage systems, ammonia refrigeration, arc flash protection, and critical safe work practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/technical field or equivalent experience; advanced degree in business management, project management, or engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in manufacturing operations in utilities.
• Practical and theoretical knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and administration of:
  • Natural gas/fuel oil fired boilers and steam generation
  • Turbine generators
  • High/medium/low voltage distribution systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • CO2 collection, purification, and distribution systems
  • Ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Area dehumidification systems
  • Hot water systems
  • Fire protection systems
  • Water treatment systems
  • Wastewater treatment systems and sanitary sewer monitoring
• Demonstrable evidence of driving World Class Supply Initiatives to deliver on challenging objectives.
• Ability to complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with a strong understanding of business priorities.

Pay

Posting salary range: $111,900.00 - $146,900.00, plus a 15% target short-term incentive. On average, $23,000 is spent on benefits per employee, including health, dental, vision, retirement, wellness incentives, and EAP.
