About the role
The Unit Manager at CoreCivic is responsible for overseeing staff and programs within an institutional, secure setting. This position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to improving the public good.
Responsibilities
- Supervise staff assigned to the unit and oversee unit programs
- Attend administrative meetings to link the unit to the total facility operation
- Ensure the unit is fully staffed and manage manpower resources
- Monitor and assess the unit’s progress, addressing any deficiencies
- Directly supervise staff, communicate responsibilities, authorities, and accountability, and complete written evaluations
- Routinely review payroll records and overtime usage for direct subordinates
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent
- Three years of experience in a criminal justice field, including two years in a supervisory capacity or two years as a CoreCivic Case Manager or Correctional Counselor
- Additional qualifying education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis
- Experience on a “CoreCivic Way” unit management team, including time served as an acting Unit Manager
- Demonstrate knowledge of correctional facility management, supervision, and training, as well as understanding of relevant corrections laws, rules, and regulations
- Valid driver's license required
- Minimum age requirement: 18 years old
