Responsibilities
- Supervises nursing care provided by Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants/State Tested Nursing Assistants.
- Carrries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Supervisory responsibilities include:
- Interviews, recommend hires and trains employees.
- Plans, assigns, and directs workflow.
- Prepares work assignment sheets, taking into consideration resident safety, the educational preparation, experience, knowledge and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.
- Receives and resolves employee complaints.
- Determines rotation of nurses within unit.
- Makes performance evaluations with the understanding that such evaluations impact tenure of probationary employees and wage increases of non-probationary employees.
- Schedules and adjusts lunch and rest breaks.
- Monitors and corrects job performance of employees.
- Disciplines employees up to and including recommendation of discharge.
- Adequately supervises assigned staff and assures that those staff are supervising employees assigned to them.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in long-term care or post-acute setting.
- Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or management role preferred.
- Working knowledge of nursing practice, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Current CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
