About the Role

The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit (3 South) at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center provides specialized care for patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions, including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post-coronary interventions, post-ablation care, and myocardial infarctions. The unit also manages pre- and post-catheterization patients, as well as those experiencing acute stroke.

The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager, leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increases staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in the Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit.
  • Lead safety and quality initiatives within the department.
  • Simplify workflow processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development and training of staff.
  • Promote excellent customer service and staff satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 18 months of acute care RN experience (required).
  • Experience in Telemetry, acute stroke, or cardiac care (preferred).
  • Previous charge experience (preferred).
  • Acute care nursing background (preferred).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (required).
  • MSN (preferred).
  • Registered Nursing License (required).
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Professional Specialty Nursing Certification (preferred).
  • ACLS certification within 1 year of hire (Critical Care/IMCU).
  • NIH certification within 1 year of hire.

Full Time, DAY Shift | Hours: 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
