About the role
The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital's Wendell 2- Surgical Short Stay unit is responsible for demonstrating proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty areas and providing clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. The coordinator leads safety and quality initiatives, simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff.
Responsibilities
- Provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department.
- Learns and implements new procedures and technologies.
- Manages and coordinates the activities of the unit.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and policies.
- Contributes to the development of staff.
- Improves staff satisfaction and promotes excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Registered nursing license.
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- Experience in post-surgical area or same-day surgery preferred.
- 18 months of acute care RN experience.
- Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) degree (required).
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree (preferred).

Schedule
Full-time, 12-hour shifts with weekend rotation.
