Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for Cornell 3—our Medical Surgical Unit! This is a full-time night shift position (12 hour) in Charlottesville, VA.
Unit overview
Cornell 3 is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit focused on gastrointestinal care, addressing conditions like gallbladder diseases, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and procedures such as colon resections and ostomy creation. The unit also cares for patients with sepsis, respiratory issues, and diabetes complications, maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 to 1:6 for personalized care.

Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in the department. Under the direction of the department manager, the role leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. The position increases staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN preferred
- Registered nursing license (required)
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- Professional specialty nursing certification preferred
- 18 months of acute care RN experience (required)
- Previous healthcare experience (required)
- Post-surgical area experience (preferred)
- Same Day surgery experience (preferred)
