Unit Coordinator (Part Time, 0.3 Night)

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and clerical support for clinical services, including overseeing individual registration, insurance verification, and tracking unit census.
• Register individuals for services, verify Medicaid eligibility, enroll health plans, and collect authorizations and release‑of‑information documents.
• Schedule appointments as needed and communicate any concerns about an individual’s psychiatric or medical presentation to the appropriate discipline.
• Greet and receive visitors, maintain security procedures, monitor the logbook, and issue visitor badges.
• Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation for episodes of care and coordinate discharges with inpatient facilities.
• Obtain clinical records/documents on request and communicate information to physicians, nurses, and other clinical team members.
• Coordinate with other providers to assist with discharges or transfers and support the ECO/TDO process.
• Serve as the liaison between all departments, ensuring smooth unit functioning and acting as the key communication link.
• Order meals and equipment, maintain unit supplies, and promote a welcoming environment with excellent customer service.
• Assist families, visitors, and vendors; answer incoming calls, provide information, transfer calls, and take messages.
• Complete required training, attend monthly meetings, and maintain required competencies.
• Coordinate civil commitment processes, notarize legal petitions, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of exceptional customer‑service‑oriented work experience.
• Minimum 3 years of clerical experience.
• Current Notary public status or ability to become a notary within the first 90 days.
• Ability to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques.
• Compliance with the company’s mandatory vaccination policy (full vaccination with documentation or approved exemption).
• Virginia Fingerprint Clearance.
• Pass Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (VA DBHDS) background check.
• Pass Virginia Department of Social Services (VA DSS) Office of Background Investigations – Central Registry Search.
• Previous behavioral health experience is a plus.

Pay

Virginia pay range: $24 – $26.91 USD per hour (actual compensation based on experience, education, internal equity, and budget).
