Unit Coordinator Med/Surg Telemetry (10am-10pm)

About the role

AdventHealth is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to join a purpose-minded team in a community that believes in the wholeness of each person. This role supports the smooth operation of the department by performing indirect patient care duties and coordinating communication between departments.

Responsibilities

• Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge
• Posts pertinent patient data in a timely manner
• Notifies and calls other departments or physicians when necessary and places appropriate information on the chart, forms, computer, and electronic record
• Accesses the medication room to place medications in a secure area upon arrival to the floor
• Interacts with patients in a manner appropriate to their age, acuity, and culture
• Responds appropriately in emergency situations
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills
• Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and accurately documents and monitors activities as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, or completion of Health Unit Coordinator coursework
• 1+ recent hospital experience or similar as a health unit coordinator (medical office or outpatient clinic)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Sufficient knowledge of English and spelling to perform various non-clinical duties
• Neat and legible handwriting
• Knowledgeable of medical terminology
• Computer and typing skills
• Organizational skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (preferred)

Pay & Schedule

• Pay Range: $15.87 - $25.38
• Schedule: Full time, Day shift
