About the role
Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Unit Coordinator for 2 South-Telemetry / Med Surg. This is a Full Time, Night shift position in Suffolk, VA. Hours: 7PM to 7AM with rotating weekend schedule.
The Cardiac Telemetry / Med Surg at Sentara Obici Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post-coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. 2 South also cares for pre/post catheterization, acute stroke, and post procedural neuro cases.
This 25-bed unit sees a ratio of 1:6 with assistance of Patient Care Techs. The unit cares for patients with acuity higher than a typical medical-surgical unit. 2 South Acute Cardiac is also preparing for a transition to a Cardiac PCU step-down before year's end, making it an exciting opportunity for nurses seeking growth in a dynamic, high-acuity setting.
Responsibilities
The RN Unit Coordinator Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (Required)
- Masters of Science in Nursing - MSN (Preferred)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- Professional Specialty Nursing Certification (Preferred)
- 18 months nursing experience (Required)
