About the role
The primary purpose of the Unit Clerk position is to manage clerical tasks, activities, and coordinate unit/service area communication and information. This role supports the care teams, provides communication between departments, and maintains an organized, functional desk/station.
Responsibilities
- Meticulously maintain patient charts
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and efficiently with patients/families, physicians, departments, and unit staff
- Maintain a neat, organized station/desk
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of experience in general clerical duties
- Medical terminology course is desirable
- PC literacy required
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
